FIRST GROVE MESSENGER --Oakbough, First Grove, the Eight Groves-- Day of Feasts, Midsomer 25th, 3235 OCE HIGH WARDEN MURDERED, SUSPECT UNKNOWN By Nerys the Wordweaver The very trees of the Eight Groves rustle with unrest at the news of the unnatural death of High Warden Naya. As the first light of day rose above the treetops, High Warden Naya, leader of the Eight Groves Council, Warden of the First Grove and matriarch of Sanctuary, was found murdered in her treetop mansion. She was discovered by her protégé, Ivy, after Naya missed Morning Commune at Sanctuary. "I knew something was wrong," Ivy said. "She never missed Morning Commune. But I never expected to find her… [dead]." High Warden Naya was discovered with multiple arrow wounds to her chest. Objects had also been removed from her house, most conspicuously her diary and a few other books. Ivy, as Naya's protégé and heir to the title of Warden of the First Grove, has been given the duty of finding Naya's killer. She assures the Messenger that the investigation is already underway: "We are removing items from Naya's mansion, and a thorough medical examination of the High Warden is also planned. We are questioning everyone in her household but do not have any suspects at this time. I would caution anyone from drawing premature conclusions from who is being interviewed." That being said, many find it interesting that Galadra the Trueshot, Naya's half-orc, half-elf adopted daughter, has been brought in for questioning. Galadra is well known for her skill with an arrow, despite the fact that she obviously cannot attend Sanctuary given her lineage. Naya took it upon herself to teach her the ways of the elves and how to fight with a bow, and her orc parentage and skill would seem to make her a prime suspect. Thankfully, Naya's daughter, Reve, was visiting her mother just before her death and has been able to shed some light Naya's last days. Perhaps her testimony will bring Naya's killer to justice. Funeral pyres will be lighted for High Warden Naya on Midsomer 25th through the 30th. Her daughters, Tulania and Reve, invite everyone to come to her pyres and pay their respects at any time. FIRST GROVE MESSENGER --Oakbough, First Grove, the Eight Groves-- Day of Thur, Somerset 14th, 3235 OCE SUSPECT NAMED IN HIGH WARDEN NAYA'S DEATH After weeks of investigation, a suspect has been named in High Warden Naya's death. The name of the suspect comes as no surprise--Galadra the Trueshot. A recent search of Galadra's belongings revealed that she was in possession of the High Warden's missing diary. Galadra denied knowledge of how Naya's diary got into her belongings and suggested someone had planted it there. However, she could not name anyone who would want to frame her and did confess to reading it. The discovery of the diary led Ivy to try to put her under arrest. Galadra, however, showing her true orc colors and perhaps her guilt, fled into the forest. For several hours, Ivy and her initiates battled Galadra, finally leaving only Ivy and Galadra still standing. Ivy finally subdued Galadra by shooting her in the eye and blinding her. Of the arrest, Warden Ivy commented, "Galadra claimed to have found the diary after the murder among her books. She says she has no idea how it got there. As a Warden, I'm inclined to believe the most probable circumstance even though I know Galadra. Her attempt to flee is also suspicious." The arrest comes as no surprise to us here at the Messenger. Of the people High Warden associated with, all were good elves above reproach--save her half-orc adopted daughter. Despite being raised by the High Warden, everyone in the Groves knows that the orcs cannot be trusted. A trial for Galadra has been scheduled for Somerset 23th. The trial will be an unsettling landmark for many elves; high treason is the only crime for which the penalty is death. No one has been tried and sentenced for high treason in more than ten centuries. Rest assured the Messenger will be there to cover the trial and its outcome. FIRST GROVE MESSENGER --Oakbough, First Grove, the Eight Groves-- Day of Beo, Somerset 23th, 3235 OCE AFTER BIZARRE COURTROOM ANTICS, GALADRA THE TRUESHOT FOUND GUILTY AND SENTENCED TO DEATH By Nerys the Wordweaver Our lady protect us on this inauspicious day. For the first time in many centuries, the Eight Groves Council has sentenced a miscreant to death. Galadra the Trueshot's trial, presided over by our newly appointed High Warden, High Warden Kynd, was a circus from the very beginning. When Galadra was introduced to the court, she refused to respond to her name, stating, "My name ain't Galadra. That's just something you elves came up with to elf-itize me. Naya's diary says my name's Agnez--now Agnez the Deadeye thanks to Warden Ivy." Warden Kynd humored her and called her Agnez the Deadeye for the remainder of the proceedings. Galadra--now Agnez--maintained her story throughout the trial. She had gone out for morning target practice, and when she returned home she found Ivy and several other Grove authorities on the scene. When asked about how the diary came into her possession, she said that the killer must have left it in her belongings. When asked who Agnez thought the killer was, she responded with a ridiculous accusation: "The only other person around was Reve. She's a weird one… All that Weaver nonsense. Naya didn't like it; I didn’t like it. I felt like Reve was trying to get something out of her recently. Being sweeter to her, you know? When she didn't get what she wanted, I think she killed her and framed me!" Reve, Naya's eldest daughter has never been considered a suspect. Though Reve's alibi could not be confirmed (Reve, as a Weaver, often works on top secret projects that require the utmost secrecy) letters from several members of the Ministry of the Territories Humaine vouched for her character. High Warden Kynd quickly dismissed Agnez's theory which enraged her further: "You elves are all the same. You only look after 'your own.' I could never be one of you!" She also slandered High Warden Naya's memory by suggesting that the diary revealed that Naya had thoughtlessly killed her orc father in the woods, seeing him only as a threat despite the fact he had an infant in his arms. When High Warden Kynd suggested that such a response was not uncalled for, Agnez flew into a rage, grabbed a dagger from one of the guards standing watch over her and hurled it at Warden Kynd. Thankfully, the High Warden, who has seen many battles, was able to dodge out of the way. It is at that point that Agnez the Trueshot sealed her fate. High Warden Kynd immediately closed the proceeding and proclaimed her guilty of murdering High Warden Naya, sentencing her to death. Her sentence will be carried out a week to the day of her trial, allowing for the allotted purification and repentance rituals of which Agnez may or may not choose to partake. The Territories Humaine abolished the death penalty two hundred years ago, so a letter of protest from the Ministry is likely. FIRST GROVE MESSENGER --Oakbough, First Grove, the Eight Groves-- Day of Groves, Somerset 27th, 3235 OCE AGNEZ THE DEADEYE ESCAPES By Nerys the Wordweaver On the eve of her execution, Agnez the Deadeye has escaped from Stoneroot Prison with at least twenty other convicts. High Warden Kynd was on the scene after the break-out and had this to say, "This was planned. We're unsure how, but she rallied the inmates here and they helped her escape. Rumor has it that she recently received a letter from a long-lost brother, but we're not sure if that is a factor in the escape." Ivy, Warden of the First Grove and main investigator in the original murder, was also on the scene. When asked about the prison break, she responded, "We must follow every lead. For now, High Warden Kynd and I must lock down the prison. Then, I will hunt her, I will find her, and I will bring her to justice--again!" The High Warden has instated a curfew of sundown for all groves. If anyone has any information about the whereabouts of Agnez the Deadeye or her new conspirators, please contact your local grove representative. Our Lady protect you all! FIRST GROVE MESSENGER --Oakbough, First Grove, the Eight Groves-- Day of Order, Leafturn 26th, 3235 OCE AGNEZ THE DEADEYE ATTACKS DUSTY RIVER By Nerys the Wordweaver Again, Deadeye illustrates the pervasiveness of the orc menace. The Territories Humaine border town of Dusty River has been besieged by the Sidewinder Gang, led by Agnez the Deadeye who now, abandoning her past, calls herself just "Deadeye." The attack on the town has been blamed on the recent assassination of Copperhead Joe, the former leader of the Sidewinders, by Midnight, Twilight's Razor. Sheriff Macken of Dusty River set a large bounty on Copperhead Joe, which was claimed by Midnight. The Messenger reached out to Warden Kynd for clarification of the situation. The explanation he gave was eye-opening: "We knew that she [Deadeye] had somehow rallied the prisoners of Stoneroot but had also been secretly communicating with someone on the outside. That person was just now revealed to be Copperhead Joe, who is apparently her long-lost brother. As the leader of the Sidewinders, Copperhead Joe was able to get his gang--many of them are incarcerated at Stoneroot--to help her escape." With this context, the motive for the attack becomes clear: Deadeye is avenging the death of her brother and in the process lashing out at the citizens of Dusty River who undoubtedly had little to do with his death. Deadeye has injured the town's sheriff, Sheriff Macken, and taken many of the small town's residents hostage in the Motherlode Saloon. Locals Dobbin and Brass have tunneled into the saloon and rescued several hostages, but they are unable to reach Macken or release all the hostages because of the Sidewinders' great numbers. Ivy and a phalanx of her initiates are already on their way to Dusty River to deal with Deadeye and the Sidewinder Gang. All of us here at the Messenger hope that Ivy and her recruits arrive at Dusty River safely. We will keep everyone appraised of any developments in the ongoing saga of Deadeye's villainy! FIRST GROVE MESSENGER --Oakbough, First Grove, the Eight Groves-- Day of Beo, Redleaf 8th, 3235 OCE DEADEYE EVADES CAPTURE, ALLIES WITH UNCHAINED By Nerys the Wordweaver The wind weeps in sorrow! Deadeye has again evaded capture. After a fierce battle between the Sidewinder Gang and Warden Ivy's warriors, the two women finally agreed to a one-on-one duel to end the conflict. The two agreed to meet at dawn. During their battle, Warden Ivy reports that Deadeye "…disparaged High Warden Naya, said vulgar things about Our Lady, and threatened the life of anyone who had anything to do with Copperhead Joe's death." When asked whether she thought Deadeye had gone mad, her response was surprising: "She's angry. I know her anger. I lost my parents when I was young, and now she has lost all her family. She has a right to her anger, but it doesn't justify what she has done." Warden Ivy and Deadeye fought for hours, and the battle ended in a draw with both of them having to be carried away by their allies. Witnesses of the duel report that Deadeye shouted her allegiance to the Unchained as she was carried away. When High Warden Kynd was asked to comment on this, he said, "She has alienated herself from elven and human society. Now, only the orcs will accept her. Good riddance." Warden Ivy assures us that this conflict is far from over: "With Our Lady as my witness, I will find her. I will avenge High Warden Naya!" The Messenger, for what it's worth, hopes that her oath will be kept. For now, Deadeye will remain the Eight Groves most wanted.

Lore from Character Bio

In the Bios there is a story line, most reference this story line. The story has some side plots that form branches. This Summary is part of the Midnight branch Side Story: This Summary continues the side story from Brass Lore. Her bio is a few newspaper clippings for the First Grove Messenger. It starts by detailing the murder of High Warden Naya, the leader of the Eight Groves. Nayas body was discovered by Warden Ivy, Ivy then becomes the lead investigator into Nayas death. Galadra the true shot (Deadeye) is brought into questioning. Galadra (Deadeye) is a half-elf half-orc, and is an adoptive daughter of Naya. Naya has two more daughters Tulania and Reve. Reve is a Weaver and works for the Ministry. Tulania is a Professor at the Academy. (Tulania wrote half of Maximilians bio, and also signs Cygnus' bio). Galadra (Deadeye) is confronted by Ivy, while being arrested Deadeye flees into the forest, Deadeye is captured by Ivy, but gets shot by in the eye by Ivy. During the trial Deadeye rejects the elf name Galadra and calls herself Deadeye. She says shes innocent and blames Reve for Nayas death. The new High Warden Kynd rejects these theory. Deadeye says the elves are racist against orcs and says Naya killed her Orc father because she saw him as a threat even with Baby Deadeye in his hands. Kynd finds Deadeye guilty and sentences her to death. On the eve of Deadeyes execution she escapes the elf jail with the help of the Sidewinder gang. Deadeyes half brother Copperhead Joe is the leader of the Sidewinders. Deadeye gets to Dusty River only to discover that Joe has been assassinated by Midnight. (see Midnights Bio). She then terrorises the citizens of Dusty River and injures Sheriff Macken (See Dobbins Bio). Ivy arrives at Dusty River and challenges Deadeye to a 1 vs 1. After a long drawn out battle both Ivy and Deadeye collapse being carried off by there allies. Deadeye becomes the leader of the Sidewinder gang and joins the Unchained. Quick note: Naya and Kynd are the authors of Ivys Bio. Also I think Deadeye is innocent and Naya did it. Based after OMD 1+2. This side story continues with Midnight Lore. Half elf and half orc, Deadeye was adopted into the elven community of the First Grove as a child and raised as Galadra the trueshot. Accused of her adoptive mother High Warden Naya’s brutal murder, Galadra was narrowly apprehended by Ivy, Warden of the First Grove, losing her right eye in the process and becoming Galadra the deadeye. Tried and convicted (and likely framed) for the crime, Deadeye staged a bold prison break with help from her long lost brother Copperhead Joe and his Sidewinder gang. On the run from Ivy and the other Wardens, she’s taken over the infamous gang and is seeking vengeance for Joe’s recent assassination at the hands of none other than Midnight, Twilight’s Razor. Who will triumph when The Eight Groves’ Most Wanted faces off with the Warden of the First Grove? Will Deadeye and the Sidewinder Gang continue their campaign of chaos and revenge against the people of Dusty River? And most importantly: who really killed High Warden Naya and for what dark purpose was Deadeye framed for the crime?
